Introducing the USIBA Service Award: Honoring Excellence Beyond the Ring
The United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association (USIBA) is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new honor — The USIBA Service Award — created to recognize outstanding acts of service, leadership, and community engagement by members of our boxing community both inside and outside of the ring.
Recognizing More Than Strength and Skill
Boxing has always been about more than physical power — it’s about discipline, courage, and a commitment to bettering oneself and the world around us. The new Service Award shines a spotlight on student-athletes, coaches, and teams who go above and beyond to serve others, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship and compassion.
This award celebrates those who dedicate their time to:
- Community involvement — volunteering at local gyms, mentoring young athletes, organizing charity events, or supporting social causes.
- Campus service — initiatives that strengthen campus life and promote health, wellness, and inclusion among students.
- Acts of excellence within boxing — leadership, mentorship, and efforts that uplift teammates and enhance the collegiate boxing experience.
Why This Award Matters
In the ring, we measure success by determination and skill. Beyond the ring, it’s measured by kindness, responsibility, and the willingness to make a difference. With the Service Award, USIBA aims to encourage athletes to continue embodying those values long after the final bell rings.
Nomination and Selection Process
Each year, USIBA member schools will have the opportunity to nominate individuals or teams who have demonstrated exceptional service throughout the season. Nominations will highlight the nominee’s impact, initiative, and lasting contribution to their communities.
A selection committee will review submissions and announce the recipient at the annual USIBA National Championships. The winner will receive special recognition during the closing ceremonies — a moment to celebrate their heart as well as their hard work.
Celebrating the Boxing Spirit in All Its Forms
This new tradition reaffirms USIBA’s mission: to build champions not just in competition, but in character. The Service Award honors those whose passion for boxing extends into a passion for people.
Because when we serve others, we become stronger — together.
